Meet Dr. Kader
Erica Kader, DMD, MSc, Cert. Ortho, FRCD(C) is passionate about orthodontics and smile design. She prides herself in providing the most up-to-date treatment, supported by evidence and research, and tailoring treatment to each patient’s individual needs and situation.
Dr. Kader is a graduate of McGill University, first receiving a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Anatomy and Cell Biology, followed by a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD). There, she earned awards and honours throughout her years of study, and at graduation received the A.W. Thornton Gold Medal for highest standing in her class, the Aldis Bernard Prize from the Ordre des Dentistes du Quebec (ODQ) for academic excellence, and the American Association of Orthodontists award. During her McGill Dentistry studies, she received an award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to conduct research on 3D-printed orthodontic retainers. She was also an elected member of the Student Council, and the Montreal Student President of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, in which she still participates.
Following dental school, Dr. Kader was accepted to Nova Southeastern University in South Florida to pursue a specialty residency. There, she received a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (Cert. Ortho), and simultaneously conducted orthodontic research to earn a Master of Science (MSc) degree. Throughout residency, she had the opportunity to attend numerous continuing education courses and orthodontic conferences in order to maximize her “bag of tricks”, allowing her to address a wide variety of issues.
Dr. Kader is a fellow of Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCD(C)), an honour conferred only to specialists who have succeeded in passing the National Dental Specialty Examinations.
Being an orthodontist allows Dr. Kader to combine her interests in art and science, while giving her the joy of interacting with patients of all ages, meeting new people every day, and fostering long-term relationships. She strives to put patients at ease, helping them understand their treatment and feel comfortable with it.
